IBM tops Gartner’s outsourcing vendors list
The report has revealed IBM continued to be the worldwide market leader across all IT services with 7.2pc of the market. EDS and Accenture followed behind with 3pc and 2.8pc market share respectively, with Accenture taking over Fujitsu in 2007, which had 2.5pc market share. HP rounded out the top 5 with 2.3pc market share. Global IT services revenue reached US$748bn in 2007, a 10.5pc rise from 2006 revenue of US$677bn.
The Indian domestic IT Services market grew 18 percent in 2007 (in Indian Rupee terms) clearly outperforming overall Asia/Pacific IT Services growth rate. “While cost remains a key consideration for users in the outsourcing services market in India, operational efficiency and business agility is driving most of the IT Services engagements”, said Arup Roy, senior research analyst, Gartner.
